The “World’s Best Hospitals 2025” ranking, jointly released by Newsweek and global data firm Statista, has been announced. Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital (hereafter referred to as KMUH) ranked 8th among the 35 hospitals evaluated in Taiwan. Since first participating in the ranking in 2023, KMUH has steadily risen from 16th place to its current 8th position, once again achieving an impressive milestone and demonstrating its ongoing commitment to excellence.

KMUH Superintendent Dr. Jaw-Yuan Wang stated that Taiwan’s healthcare quality is comparable to the best in the world. As both a medical center and a university-affiliated hospital, KMUH upholds a core philosophy of “patient-centered care” and is dedicated to advancing smart healthcare. This year, KMUH was awarded the NHQA (National Healthcare Quality Award) for its “Smart Hospital Full Organization Accreditation,” becoming the only medical institution in southern Taiwan to receive this honor consecutively. Dr. Wang emphasized that in response to the rapid evolution of medical technology, KMUH is accelerating its digital transformation by fully integrating AI technologies to enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve clinical decision-making efficiency, streamline medical procedures, and elevate the patient experience.

Additionally, KMUH is deeply committed to sustainable development. In 2024, the hospital received four major honors in the Taiwan Sustainable Healthcare Awards”,presented by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy“and has been recognized in the field of sustainable healthcare for six consecutive years, demonstrating its long-standing dedication to social welfare and environmental protection.

Dr. Wang further explained that smart healthcare is undoubtedly the driving force behind medical innovation. Data-driven care, big data analytics, and AI technologies are rapidly transforming the healthcare industry. KMUH will continue to pursue excellence by leveraging innovative technologies to improve care quality and patient safety, building a warmer, smarter medical environment and laying a solid foundation for public health and well-being.

The ranking was based on a comprehensive evaluation that included life expectancy, living standards, population size, and the number of hospitals. It also incorporated expert surveys from physicians, hospital administrators, medical staff, and healthcare professionals, along with patient experience data, hospital quality indicators, various certification results, and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), ensuring a rigorous selection process.
