The award ceremony for the 2025 Global Views Monthly Taiwan Best University Rankings was held on the afternoon of July 10, recognizing universities with outstanding performance across various categories. This year, Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) received the honor of “Exemplary Private University in Overall Performance.” This recognition affirms KMU’s excellence across six major dimensions: academic achievement, teaching quality, internationalization, social impact, industry-academia collaboration, and financial soundness.

Marking its 10th edition, the Global Views Monthly Taiwan Best University Rankings is regarded as one of the most comprehensive and credible higher education evaluations in Taiwan. This year’s rankings assessed universities on 53 indicators (including 69 sub-indicators), providing a multidimensional and thorough review of institutional performance. KMU, which last year received the “Exemplary University in Medical Category” award, has now advanced to claim the “Exemplary Private University in Overall Performance” award—ranking first among private universities in southern Taiwan, demonstrating the strong recognition of its educational outcomes.

KMU Senior Vice President Dr. Chih-Lung Lin accepted the award on behalf of the university. In his remarks, he stated that education is not merely professional training, but also a process of shaping values. “The value of talent lies not in competition, but in co-creating the future.” He emphasized that KMU aspires to cultivate students who “envision the future, create the future, and build the future.” To achieve this, the university upholds integrity in governance, advances AI biomedicine and smart campus initiatives, establishes specialized research centers to drive interdisciplinary innovation, strengthens southern Taiwan’s medical education capacity through its affiliated healthcare system, and fosters a bilingual international campus to nurture globally competitive talent.

Since President Ming-Lung Yu took office in July 2024, KMU has embraced the vision of “Future KMU, Leading the Future,” guided by the i6 development strategy—Integrity, Intelligence, Innovation, Integration, Internationalization, and Impact—as the foundation for university governance and sustainable development. KMU’s blueprint integrates student-centered higher education strategies, national policy directions, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), making continuous progress in recruitment, teaching and research, industry collaboration, international affairs, and administrative innovation. The university is committed to becoming a sustainable institution with both global competitiveness and local impact, while building a stronger future for Taiwan’s healthcare system and public health.

This year, KMU also achieved new milestones in the THE Impact Rankings, with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) ranked No.1 in Taiwan for the second consecutive year, and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) ranked 8th worldwide—further evidence of KMU’s longstanding commitment to health equity and inclusive diversity.

This award not only recognizes KMU’s overall educational performance but also highlights the solid efforts of the university team in advancing steadily and laying a strong foundation. Looking ahead, KMU will continue to remain people-centered, dedicated to health, empowered by technology, and connected to the world—starting from southern Taiwan, linking globally, and giving back to society.
