To attract outstanding international scholars to return to Taiwan and contribute to higher education and research, Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) participated in the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) European Talent Recruitment Initiative in July 2025. Together with representatives from Taiwan’s top universities, the delegation held overseas recruitment forums at TU Dortmund University in Germany and the Universities UK association in the United Kingdom. The delegation was led by MOE Chief Secretary Po-Chiao Lin, who presented Taiwan’s latest talent recruitment policies to Chinese-speaking young scholars in Germany and the UK, sincerely inviting them to return to Taiwan and serve.

KMU President Ming-Lung Yu personally joined the recruitment events, where he introduced the university’s educational philosophy and achievements in internationalization. He also addressed issues most relevant to young scholars, including research resources, promotion systems, salary packages, and supportive workplace benefits, demonstrating KMU’s genuine commitment to attracting and supporting outstanding talent. President Yu also engaged in in-depth discussions with several scholars, offering preliminary career matching and consultations.

President Yu remarked that KMU was honored to participate in the MOE’s European recruitment program and to meet face-to-face with exceptional young scholars from various fields. He emphasized that KMU has always placed great importance on talent cultivation and research innovation, sincerely welcoming scholars with global vision and potential to join the university’s teaching and research community. He expressed hope that the initiative would successfully attract more like-minded partners to contribute to the university’s growth and to Taiwan’s higher education development.

KMU has long been committed to strengthening its research capacity and promoting international academic exchange. Its participation in this recruitment initiative highlights the university’s proactive approach to bringing in outstanding international academic talent. Across disciplines—including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, health sciences, life sciences, as well as humanities and social sciences—KMU offers a wide range of teaching and research positions with competitive salaries and stable research support. The university warmly welcomes young scholars and postdoctoral researchers from around the world to join KMU in advancing Taiwan’s academic development.

In this European recruitment effort, KMU collaborated with leading institutions including National Taiwan University, National Chung Hsing University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Sun Yat-sen University, Taipei Medical University, National Central University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Chengchi University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and National Cheng Kung University. This joint effort demonstrates the determination of Taiwan’s higher education system to unite in attracting global talent. KMU will continue to strengthen its international connections and talent strategies, looking forward to welcoming more outstanding scholars to join in shaping a new chapter for education and research.
