The Blueprint for Healthy Aging Blooming on the Island

As Taiwan rapidly approaches a super-aged society, care is not only the demonstration of medical expertise but also a promise of protection. At the 2025 Senior Health Industry Expo, the KMU system, under the theme “From Health to Comfort: KMU Safeguards the Smiles of the Elderly”, gathered with four affiliated hospitals, weaving research, clinical achievements, and community outcomes into a blueprint of happiness for the elderly.

Within the exhibition area, “Cijin Healthy Aging and Long-Term Care Island” drew particular attention. Cijin, an island surrounded by waves, has also become a warm place where long-term care services take root. Over the years, we have steadily built a community-based long-term care network: from neighborhood care stations to dementia support centers, from home care to residential long-term care, so that every elderly person can receive reassuring care on familiar land. This is not a cold system, but a way of living and protecting together with the residents.

This year, we also brought “BestShape Care Contactless Sarcopenia Screening” to the expo. For the elderly, sarcopenia is often a hidden risk leading to falls and disability. Traditional assessments require cumbersome equipment and physical contact, but now, with radar technology, simple natural walking and sit-to-stand movements allow real-time analysis of muscle strength and physical ability. The intervention of technology does not replace people but helps us identify risks earlier, making care more efficient and closer to needs.

This effort is not solitary. Each hospital in the system brings its unique interpretation of elderly well-being:
Some use virtual reality to open nostalgic journeys for people with dementia, gently awakening memories; some use AI and oral rehabilitation platforms to help the elderly enjoy swallowing with ease again; others combine remote monitoring with home-based care, bringing professional medical services directly into homes.

On our island, long-term care is not only about caregiving but also a way of life. The dances in the square, the laughter at community centers, and the words of care when volunteers deliver meals—all these moments reflect the true face of “Cijin Healthy Aging and Long-Term Care Island.”

The future of elderly care has never been about the progress of a single technology, but about the intersection of professionalism × warmth. The story of Cijin is a microcosm: localized services combined with smart assessments, ensuring that every elderly person can not only be well cared for but also live independently, with peace of mind and dignity.

We firmly believe that only by placing the needs of the elderly at the center can care be truly complete. Whether in the alleys of the island or on the national blueprint for long-term care, Cijin is committed to continuing its warm role—protecting every smile in the most life-centered way.
