Kaohsiung Municipal Cijin Hospital (operated by Kaohsiung Medical University)
In October, the sea breeze of Cijin carries a hint of sweetness, sweeping through its streets and people. This year, on National Day, Kaohsiung Municipal Cijin Hospital held a Health Fair at the Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology Cijin Campus Gymnasium, bringing an extra touch of wellness to the celebration while offering a special blessing for the hospital’s 11th anniversary. This event symbolizes the connection between healthcare and the community, allowing medical care to truly become part of daily life for local residents.
The fair, themed “Healthy Cijin, Caring for the Community,” featured a variety of health services and interactive booths. The medical team from Cijin Hospital provided cancer screening services for cervical, breast, colorectal, and oral cancers, while also offering COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations. On-site, there were muscle strength tests, charity bracelet activities, and health education booths, enabling participants to learn about the importance of health through interaction. Charity sales and handmade craft stalls added warmth to the atmosphere, turning health promotion into more than just disease prevention—it became a bridge that strengthens community bonds. The event also successfully encouraged many elderly residents who had previously avoided cancer screenings out of fear or unfamiliarity to take the first step. For example, in cervical cancer screening, many older women had hesitated due to shyness or misconceptions, but with the patience and support of the medical staff, 17 women who had never undergone screening or had not been screened for more than three years participated again. This initiative not only helped them realize that “screening is not frightening,” but also emphasized that early detection and early treatment are the most practical ways to protect one’s health.
This Health Fair was a continuation of Cijin Hospital’s long-standing commitment to the community. Guided by the principle of “Healthcare Equality and Local Wellness,” the hospital continues to bridge the gap between urban and rural healthcare, ensuring that seniors and families can receive comprehensive care right at their doorstep. From the overall promotion of the “Cijin Senior Long-Term Care Island,” to the development of the Senior Activity Center, Dementia Care Center, Type C Neighborhood Long-Term Care Stations, home medical care, and residential long-term care institutions, the hospital has steadily woven a health network unique to Cijin. This fair was a manifestation of those efforts—Cijin Hospital practices preventive medicine through action, making health a shared language within the community.
Cijin Hospital understands that modern medicine goes beyond diagnosis and treatment—it lies in ongoing dialogue with the community. From promoting long-term care services to implementing public health education, every interaction is a new chapter written together with the residents in the story of community health. The medical team not only provides services but also builds trust through participation, listening, and companionship. This connection makes Cijin Hospital not just “a hospital,” but truly a “good neighbor” to the people of Cijin.
In the sea breeze of October, Cijin Hospital celebrated the nation’s birthday with action and expressed gratitude to the land it serves. Medicine is not a cold technology—it is companionship and commitment. This health festival, unique to Cijin, made the act of “protecting health” not just a slogan, but something visible, tangible, and part of everyday life.

Cijin residents enthusiastically participated in the Health Fair to safeguard their health.
