The growth of a university is never the achievement of a single moment. It is the accumulation of countless acts of care and shared convictions. Every step forward our University has taken has been supported by alumni and friends from all sectors of society, giving us the confidence to advance steadily in teaching, research, and medical service.
Over the years, whether serving on the front lines of healthcare or contributing across diverse professional fields, KMU alumni have given back to society through meaningful action. They have also transformed their affection and blessings for their alma mater into tangible and heartfelt support. These collective gestures of goodwill have become a driving force behind KMU’s development, allowing the spirit of “people-centered, rooted in compassion” to continue flourishing on campus.
To embrace a new era of internationalized education, KMU is actively creating a more comprehensive, diverse, and inclusive learning and living environment. The University has invested NT$1.55 billion to construct a brand-new International Student Residence and launched the “Building KMU Together: International Student Residence and Alumni Club Fundraising Project.” The initiative has received enthusiastic support from alumni and friends of the University, raising nearly NT$90 million in a short period of time—an achievement of great significance in KMU’s campus development history. With this collective outpouring of support, the International Student Residence project is steadily becoming a reality and is expected to be completed this year, opening a new chapter of comfort and inclusivity for students, faculty, and alumni.
The 14-story building with three basement levels will provide 996 beds for students and an additional 48 beds designated for visiting scholars and alumni. Designed with multicultural exchange in mind, the residence integrates spaces for reading, self-study, fitness, and cultural activities, creating an environment where students can live and learn with comfort and peace of mind. The building also incorporates sustainable design principles and has been awarded pre-certification as a Gold-level Green Building, reflecting KMU’s commitment to environmental responsibility and social care.
From its earliest conception to the present moment as completion approaches, this project has united the dedication of many. The vision and planning of successive presidents and administrative teams, the professionalism of the design and construction teams, and the generous support of alumni and distinguished members of society have together transformed blueprint into reality, allowing shared ideals to take root on campus.
Within the residence, the specially established “KMU Alumni Club” is a heartfelt offering to every alumnus and alumna—a welcoming space for gathering, sharing, and connection. It serves as an emotional bridge linking generations of KMU members, ensuring that each return to campus is filled with a renewed sense of belonging and warmth.
KMU sincerely thanks all alumni and friends from across society for their longstanding care and support. It is through this trust and companionship that the University can continue strengthening campus development while building momentum for the next stage of growth.
