The construction of the university’s International Student Dormitory embodies the enduring companionship and support of countless alumni. Each contribution, gathered over time, has not only been transformed into a cornerstone of campus development, but has also converged into a steady and heartening force that propels the university forward.

Alumnus Chiu Liang-Chin, Chairman and current President of the Kaohsiung Medical University Alumni Association, has remained committed to strengthening the bond between alumni and their alma mater since assuming office. Whether through active participation in campus events or tangible support for institutional development, his continued dedication has provided a stable and profound source of support for the university.

During the fundraising and construction of the International Student Dormitory, Chairman Chiu donated NT$7 million to support the establishment of a fitness center, an arts and cultural center, and a leadership hall. His wife, alumna Feng Chen-Fen, also contributed NT$2 million to sponsor a rhythm room. Together, they have helped create a space that integrates both learning and quality of life for students. Extending beyond personal giving, Chairman Chiu further mobilized the alumni association and alumni networks, raising NT$2 million and NT$1.5 million respectively to sponsor twin and single rooms within the alumni house. What began as individual contributions has evolved into a collective effort, demonstrating the strong bonds among alumni and their shared commitment to giving back.

Giving back to my alma mater is a lifelong journey,” Chiu expressed, reflecting his enduring belief. Together with his wife, he has long paid close attention to students’ holistic development beyond academics. He firmly believes that higher education is not only about professional training, but also about fostering healthy lifestyles and cultivating cultural literacy. Supporting the development of fitness and arts spaces reflects their hope that students will have outlets for stress relief and opportunities to broaden their perspectives through artistic engagement—ultimately achieving balanced growth in both body and mind.

From sustained personal commitment to the mobilization of the broader alumni community, Chiu Liang-Chin has demonstrated unwavering support for the university’s development. The sports and arts facilities within the International Student Dormitory will accompany students in their daily lives, while the alumni house will serve as a welcoming space for returning graduates.

These spaces, shaped by the strength of alumni connections, represent more than material contributions—they embody deep care for the alma mater and a long-term vision for its future. In the years to come, they will continue to support generations of KMU students, empowering them to move forward with confidence and resilience on their academic and life journeys.
